Patriots Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run from the Brady period as they beat division opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
QB Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory extends the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots sealed the triumph
