Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
